First Day!

Today was my first day at that new job that I was telling you all about.. and It went really well!
Of course i'm completly exauhsted after working from 9am - 12:30 there and then 1- 930pm and the Bookstore. All I have to think of is how nice these paychecks will be! Gotta make that $$$$ for my car and house! Despite what some people may think or feel, I personally love working. I'm currently working 3 jobs right now to be able to pay for my car and new house. I could never just not have a job. I have so many bills and responsibilities to pay that not having a job just couldn't happen.

So basically I'm loving this new job so far and loving the pay and the hours even more!!

Well, It's hard to believe that this semester is over. Heck it's hard to believe that I'm going to be a junior!
Out of all my classes this semester I think this one was the most beneficial for me. I learned a lot of really cool new sites and programs to use along with techniques and different ways to showcase your work. I think the part about this site I enjoyed the most was these last few weeks where we created our websites. I think that it's so important for an artist to have a way to showcase their work and since everything is practically web based this is a very important skill to have. I think going week to week in this class it was hard for me to see the overall picture of my work that I created and how this would all look together, but once we put everything together on the website I really think it completed the class. Looking at everybody's site and how we all took the different projects and each did a unique thing with them I think makes it look like we all have a type of variety and uniqueness to our work.

Overall I really enjoyed this class and was glad I took it, I found out a few weeks in that I most likely could've been opted out of this class. But am very happy I stuck with it. I still learned a lot and feel that I've taken a lot away from this class. I would definitely recommend taking this class online rather than in the classroom because I think it's important to do all of this online, where your not visually watching the professor and other students around you. Since it's a digital media class, I think taking it online is an important aspect of the class. With that being said I think Phoebe was an excellent instructor and no i'm not just trying to be a kiss-ass. She was very understand with technical difficulties, which I think we all had at some point during the semester, and was very good at communicating with us what was expected. I really enjoyed that class and learned a lot from it. I can't wait to see what else I learn now that i'm starting to really get into my major! If this was just a taste, then I like what i'm tasting! (that was cheesy, sorry)

:)

Home Sweet Home!

Here it is! MY Very first home! We don't move in until the first of june, but we both are already SO EXCITED! We've already gone out and bought everything for the house and have even started packing! It's so crazy how in just the past few months i've taken such a leap forward in my life. I finally have my own home, a big girl job, and i'm practically halfway done with college. Seriously when did that happen?!

Basically, to sum up my excitement: KFLFKLSASFDJKFDSKJDFSJKLDSKFSKDSFLDSKLEIOWVNVNR

My Lucy Cat!

Mid Summer of last year, out at a friends house in Michigan they had this little kitty wandering around their property. Everyone who lived there was allergic and couldn't let the cat hang around. After a few months of begging my dad, he finally let me keep her! She makes me laugh with all of her little quirks and I just can't believe it's almost been a year since we've gotten her!
She loves to watch the birds out of the window and loves playing hide and seek as well. She is such a smart cat and I can't wait to throw her a little birthday party in a few months :)

The Booger :)

Well it's been a little over a month now since i've gotten my new car, and can I just say that I LOVE IT! It's hard to tell from the picture but it's a lime green-ish color. It literally has everything, Rear-view camera, Navigation, Sirius radio, Hyper-Black rims. Everything i've wanted in a car I now have. Sometimes I think to myself " Hmm, was buying a BRAND new car really a good idea?" But then I get in the drivers seat and remember why it was. If anyone is looking to purchase a new car I strongly suggest the 2013 Dodge Dart. The Fully loaded model is as much as a standard model of some other cars and let's just admit it.. this is one bad ass car!

3D Sculpture

obj Catch art 1070

First off I would like to say that this weeks assignment was VERY Cool! I really enjoyed working with this website although it was very difficult to understand and navigate. Working on a Mac I found it was very difficult since all of the tutorial videos showed it in the downloaded program on a PC. I took the pictures on my sisters iphone and edited it on my computer. Every time i went on to edit it, my object would never fully load. So it was very difficult to work with. I think if the website fixed a lot of these issues it would be much simpler and more enjoyable to use. It also was confusing me because whenever i would look at it in my projects it would show only 3 of the 40 pictures and I couldn't figure out how to stitch them in like the tutorial showed because it showed it in the PC download. I really wish I could've figured out how to get it to work better but I still am very happy with the way my object turned out and still think it's a cool website to use in the future!

Logos

For my first logo my thought process was to create something simple and effective. Something that gets my name across along with what I  "call myself". Both of these logos I created in black and white so that the color of the logo wouldn't take away from the ideas behind them. My Second logo is my signature with those fancy parentheses around it. The purpose of the parentheses are to contain my signature so that it doesn't get lost on the page. If I had to choose of one of the two I would choose the first one mainly because it's more functional and I like the way it looks more than the second one. I also think the first one has a good balance of light and dark compared to the second.

I enjoyed Scribbler Too so much better than the original scribbler! For one I thought it was a lot easier to navigate and to figure out how to use. I also liked being able to upload a image to draw over. I really like the way my fish turned out. I also can imagine using this website in the future for projects that need a certain sketchy quality about them. The image where we had to portray volume was a little more difficult for me, but I still like the way that it looks. To me It looks like ribbon twirling around. This so far as been one of my favorite assignments that we've done.

Scribbler

Scribbler is a very interesting website to work with. For one: It takes a little bit of time to get used to how the settings work and how to manipulate your lines. I'm pretty happy with how these two images turned out. I wish I could've gotten them to look like the two you showed as examples. But I am still just getting used to the website. I hope in Scribbler Too I'll be able to adjust the look of the image a little more easily than in the original scribbler. I also really enjoy how the image generated looks like a drawing but without actually having to draw it since drawing is not my forte!

For this video, I actually really enjoyed it once I figured out what exactly I was doing. I really like the first half of my video, and not much of the second half. I think the video clips really go well with the song. I'm interested to see how other students interpreted this assignment. I think a lot of the video clips that I choose are really funny and interesting and combined it makes a very interesting composition. 78 I choose video clips from a little girl dancing, some old Betty Boop footage, a documentary on bananas, and some mario footage. I choose these videos because they're really random and all completely different. I made my video in iMovie and other than the clips I just put a simple cross dissolve between them. If I had to change anything it would be the second half, I wish i would've been able to come up with ideas for different video clips, and I think that was the hardest part of the video. Overall I learned to have more respect for people that do create mashups!

Sam

I did not like this project. I did not like it in my house. I did not like it with or without a mouse. I did not like the program used, I did not like the day in my shoes. I did not like it here and I did not like it anywhere. I would not like it in powerpoint, and I would not like it on my blog. I don't know why I felt that had to be paired with this, but it did. I REALLY disliked this project. I thought it was very cliche and middleschool like. It's hard to get 20 pictures of what you do in a day when I spend all day at work. I thought the Google Doc program was an odd mixture between powerpoint and some weird slow running unusable program. It worked super slow on my computer and took forever to do for such a simple project. I almost wish I would've spent my time doing something a little more productive :(

Make Up!

I really enjoyed this project. Finding 16 cohesive items to put into my grid was a lot of fun. It took me a while to figure out what I was going to do, first I had the idea of doing different colored nail polish. Then I thought of just doing make-up brushes, since there are so many different kinds! I thought that was a little to exclusive, so I changed it up a bit. This whole grid is composed of items you use to put makeup on your face! If I could do this again I would use a much better quality camera and maybe photograph an object that's a little more interesting. I have a really small interesting collection of coins that would be cool to see in this type of layout. Hmm.. Maybe another day!

Animoto :/

Make your own slide show at Animoto.

Hmm.. Here Is a Video a made for a class on Animoto with some of my pictures from our little Florida Vacation! I'm not sure if I really enjoyed working in Animoto, I would much rather use iMovie or Final Cut Pro. I know Animoto is just for simple video making but with only the 30second versions there is not much you can do it make it your own. For somebody who has never created videos like this than this site is very easy and explains itself well. I have a little more experience so personally I would never use a site like this just because of how many better options there are out there. :P

SMB

SMB by emmavank
SMB, a photo by emmavank on Flickr.

There was a lot of photos I shot while on vacation, and besides all of the cliche tourist photos this one was my favorite. He usually doesn't like his picture being taken so I had to sneak this one in. I really enjoy how I just captured him in his moment. Another aspect of this photo I like is how the shadows and contrast play across his body. I also really like the texture of the floor gives the photo some depth and more interest which helps you look longer. Out of all the photos that I took this one was probably the most sharp and it really accents that in the black and white. Overall , If you knew SMB you would know this picture captures him in his entirety and I absolutely love it!

Hello!

Hello Bloggers! Since this is my first post on my new blog i'm not really sure what to talk about! So I guess there is no better place to start than about me. I'm 20 years old, and a Sophomore at UT studying new media design. I currently still live at home but am hoping to move out this year with my boyfriend. If you know anything about me, you should know that the most important person in my life is my boyfriend. His name is Shaun and i'm sure you'll be hearing about him a lot! We've been dating for over two years and couldn't be happier together! To help you get to know me a little better I'll include a picture of us! (The picture is of us at his brothers wedding)

My hopes for this blog are to begin to share some of my work with the rest of the world in hopes of getting some fame to my name :) So be prepared for  me to wow you with some of my work!

Hope everyone likes me enough to stick around! And well, I guess that's all for now!
